As social and economic development, the University of this organization from thesocial community on the verge of moving toward the center of the whole of mankind and the progress of society plays an indelible role. Since the Middle Ages, the University of Western origin, the University of functions from a single teaching functions extended to teaching, research and social services, such as multiple functions, its organizational structure from the University of spontaneous simple church organizations to the development of multi-level and multi-types of complex organizational structure . Looking at the University of Western organizational structure of the evolution of the social environment has undergone numerous changes, one after another showed a progressive, the times, many factors, openness and power of the game, and the genetic characteristics of these changes to the University of the West Organizational structure step by step to mature and improve.After a period of expansion, China's universities have emerged development of the plateau, many universities have troubled by the fact that the development of the University found it hard to break the bottleneck organizational structure is the root cause of organizational development, and search for the social demands of university organizations and environmental change the internal organization of the requirements of the current structure has become an important issue. Because of China's historical background, we are a very special international background and social environment to engage in the cause of higher education, neither in history nor off-the-shelf implementation of the programme, therefore, for the development of the organizational structure of the University of history re-examine might not be an effective way.This study focused on expanding the functions of the University of Western organizational structure of the University of the evolution of the use of comparative and historical methods, from the perspective of education and management and organizational structure of the theoretical dimension, combing the University of the West of the evolution of the organizational structure, analysis changes in the characteristics of their history and reason. On this basis, and re-examine the organizational structure of universities in China.This thesis is composed of introduction, four chapters of main text and conclusion part. The part of the preface mainly introduces the backgroud of choosing the thesis, the meaning and the research program. The second part is the main body. Chapter One defines the relevant concepts of the functions of the Universit and University organization, briefly discuss the relationship between them .Chapter Two focused on combing the organizational structure of the University of Western University in the context of expanding functions evolving process, as well as in each period showedsome characteristics. Chapter Three investigates the characteristics of univesity's organizational structure change. Chapter Four basing on the requirement of organizational structure of universities in China, reveals the inspiration for us.
