A Comparative Research On Parents' Educational Ideas In The Primary Schools Between One City In The East And Another City In The West

The key factor of family educational quality is mainly the quality of the parents, among which parents' educational idea plays a vital role. Not only does it restrict the rights and duties of the parents, but it also affects the establishment of a sound relationship between parents and children. Furthermore, it has a great effect on parents' choice of educational contents and methods, thus having a far-reaching effect on child's development.Social environment is one of the key factors in affecting parents' educational ideas. The thesis compares and analyzes the differences of educational ideas between Shanghai and Urumqi among the parents of primary school students, attempting to detect the real reasons behind the differences and put forward some suggestions and hoping to provide some scientific basis for family education. The study consists of the following five parts:Chapter1: Introduction. It is made up of three parts: raising the question, overview of documentation and the definition of the related concepts. First, it begins with stating the background of the study from three aspects: the importance of parents' educational ideas, the complexity of parents' educational ideas and the deficiency of the comparison. Next, it makes a brief introduction on the related documents available. Finally, it limits the core concepts the study touches upon.Chapter2: Design of the study. It includes the objectives of the study, the targets of the study, the methods of the study and the outline of the study. Meanwhile, it puts forward the hypothesis of the study.Chapter3:: Result of the survey and comparison. First, the study clarifies the collection of the questionnaires and the processing of the dada and describes the basic situation of the subjects. Then the study lays great emphasis on the comparison of the four elements: viewpoints on becoming talent, viewpoints on training, viewpoints on children and viewpoints on parentage. Finally, the comparison has been made between the elements which affect the parents.Chapter4: Conclusions and problems. The main conclusions can be drawn in this chapter. Accordingly, the study analyses the main problems which exist in both cities and finds out the main differences of educational ideas between parents in Shanghai and parents in Urumqi.Chapter5: Feedbacks and suggestions. The study analyses the problems and reflects on the differences, trying to put forward some advice on how to alter the educational ideas of some parents, the parents in Urumqi in particular.
