Among Chinese higher education, the correspondence education plays a very important role due to its characteristics. With the quick development of Information Technology, the slow transmission of knowledge through traditional correspondence education holds back severely its advancement. Meanwhile, the up-to-date distance education has inevitably shown some sorts of defects because of its short history. It has been shown that the Information Technology could really promote the correspondence education. As a result, the current research on a new correspondence education mode meets the educational needs of information society.Through investigation, comparison and case study, this paper illustrates the slow transinformation of traditional correspondence education and the disadvantages of distance education. The relevant pedagogical theories are used to analyze the pros and cons of the above two educational modes. Based on the analysis, the author puts forward a new mode for correspondence education. That is to establish a web-based platform for online real-time teaching and student's self-learning. Taking the web-based platform of WebClass system of Institute of Adult and Continuing Education, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications as an example, the author demonstrates the new correspondence education mode, which is based on the web platform, and its practical efficacy.The paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces research question and research methods; Chapter 2 analyzes the reasons of current correspondence education's existence and its major problems; the following chapter analyzes the traditional correspondence education with the application of related pedagogical theories and presents a new mode; the author sets forth some basic strategies for the correspondence education supported by web-platform in Chapter 4, and discusses the essential ideas of the new mode and its efficacy.
