Professional identity is a process in which the individuals recognize and admit the relationship between their special fields and themselves. It is based on the self-assessment. It is a kind of cognition that one can judge whether the special field is suitable to his development and whether he can admit his field. In this paper, by investigating and studying the different situations of professional identity of undergraduate students for primary education in four different normal universities, the author has understood and grasped the different situations of professional identity and their influencing factors. Furthermore, she also proposed some good advice's to the students.This paper employs the method of questionnaire investigation with visit. On the basis of the past documentary research, by using "the questionnaire investigation of undergraduate students for primary education" as a measuring tool, the author analyzed the different situations of professional identity of 414 freshmen and juniors for primary education in Capital Normal University, Huainan Normal University, Neijiang Normal University and Sichuan University of Arts and Science.This investigation shows that, totally, the degree of professional identity of undergraduate students for primary education is not so high. It stayed up to the middle level but down to the high. It reflects that:1. The differences between schools and the differences between schools and their districts are not obvious, so the phenomenon of low-level-professional-identity universally exists.2. The levels of professional identity are quite different between males and females in their totality and different dimensions. Females' are higher than males'.3. On the cause of student origin, the professional identities of students from far countries are lower in their cognition totality and professional fostering identity dimensions than students from other areas. It gets 0.05 points. The differences are even bigger if compared with students from big cities. Only in the dimension of professional identity, students from big cities and students from middle and small cities have some remarkable differences4. on the contrast of grades, obvious differences only exist in professional fostering cognition, and juniors are quite lower than freshmen.5. On aspirations of enrollment, students enrolled by the first aspiration always have higher cognition than students who were enrolled by allocation. Students enrolled by allocation and others who were enrolled by the second and third aspiration only have some similarities in the dimension of professional fostering cognition. There are big differences in other aspects. And also, there are some dimensional differences between students enrolled by first aspiration and student enrolled by second and third aspirations in their professional identities.6. At the aspect of enrollment, students can get higher level cognition only when they were enrolled normally in the dimension of professional identity. There is no difference in other aspects.Focusing on the result of investigation, this paper analyzes the problem in two aspects——schools and the society. Based on it, the author suggests that Primary Education Fields, Social Talent Mechanisms and Normal Universities have to make some efforts to help undergraduate students for primary education to improve their professional identities.
