Technological progress has always been one of the direct forces to promote the progress of human society. Meanwhile it is also a major driving force to change the direction of the development of education. Modern educational technologies based on multimedia technology, network technology and modern communications technology, play an important part in educational reform and development and become a commanding height and breakthrough of educational reform and development, and a "Catalyst" in the process of higher vocational teaching reform. Therefore, for higher vocational education, how to integrate with the trend of informationization of education; get aware and understanding of the relationship between modern educational technologies and the teaching reform of higher vocational education correctly; clear the thread and develop the application of modern educational technologies actively and vigorously to make use of modern educational technologies to reform the existing education and teaching models and ways to improve the teaching quality and efficiency of higher vocational education and enhance core competitiveness of higher vocational institutions under the guidance of modern educational ideas and theories, has become a focus to the vocational education workers and the entire society. In such a background of the times, this issue selected modern technology applications in higher vocational institutions in Shandong Province as the target for the study, and made a systematic study of the theory and practical exploration in-depth. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter introduced the status, theorigin and significance of this study. This issue is the follow-up of two key topics -one provincial, one city-level- chaired by the author, which expects a more in-depth study of the application of modern educational technologies in higher vocational education. The second chapter made a theoretical study of the application of modern educational technologies in vocational institutions. Based on the training objectives and characteristics of education in the vocational institutions, this chapter analyzed the unique feature of the education in vocational college; researched on the impact of modern educational technologies in the teaching of vocational education theoretically and practically; and brings forth methods and principles that we should take. Chapter three focused on the introduction of the practices and strategies of the application of modern educational technologies in the higher vocational institutions in some developed countries. Chapter Four carried out a detailed study of the situation of the application of modern educational technologies in Shandong vocational institutions from different perspectives, such as construction, management, teacher training and application and so on through questionnaires, interviews and other forms. Chapter Five brought forth the countermeasures to the application of modern educational technologies in Shandong vocational institutions. Chapter Six made a brief summary of this thesis'research; pointed out the innovation and inadequate points of this study, and defined the further study and efforts in the direction. This paper studied and elaborated the above-mentioned subjects by making use of research methods such as surveys, literature, statistics, and comparative analysis and so on to put forward some suggestions on the theory construction and practice of higher vocational education.
