Education is an undertaking to cultivate lives. A new round of reform concerning the basic education curriculum has entered a stage of comprehensive implementation. One of the missions of this reform is to achieve a rational, health and comprehensive life education. Because of the humanities characteristic, Chinese is a special course which plays an incomparable part in life education.This article analyzes the necessity of implementing life education from students'current behavior and the status of life education in China, on basis of the meaning and features of life education and the international attentions on it. It discusses the contents of life education in Chinese reading text from different layers, including the text layer, theme layer, emotion layer, language layer, etc. Finally, the author explores the strategies of implementing life education in Chinese reading teaching from the perspective of methodology.Through the discussion of these life education-related issues, teachers should fully develop the key roles of students in the teaching process and guide the students to understand and appreciate life, cherish and show respect to it, make sure of the meaning of life, in order to fulfill the students'self-worth.
