Current composition teaching in high school is in a dilemma: on the one hand, teachers of Chinese take great pains but with less gains; on the other hand,the writing abilities of high school students are far from satisfaction. In terms of teaching practice, the main existing issues are: the mistaken concept of composition teaching in high school, which results in the lack of the notion of effective teaching; the orderlessness and unplannedness of composition teaching in itself,which is directly relevant to the non-systematicness of the composition practicing materials in new course; the formulism and simplification of the teaching activities,which leads to the loss of students'interest in writing compositions. Therefore,to teach composition writing effectively,firstly teachers should transform the mistaken notion and realize the position and function of composition teaching in high school. Secondly teachers should make workable teaching plans of compositions and teach level by level and step by step.Thirdly teacher should also adopt effective teaching methods respectively according to concrete situations , teaching procedures and auxiliary teaching.
