In the background of increased enrollment and international financial crisis, graduate face a more position. Authority forecasted that, about 3 million graduates can find jobs in 2009, less than half of this year's graduates. A great number of them will be unemployed after graduation. Graduates' employment concerns graduates themselves and millions of family behind them. So, it really means a lot to pay attention to the psychological situation of those graduates who have difficulty in finding jobs. This research studied graduates' psychological characteristics from the angle of coping with employment setbacks to make positive reference in understanding graduates and dealing with the problem of graduate employment.Based on relative researches and combined with the realistic situation of our country, this thesis investigated graduates' outlook on occupation, their psychology and behavior characteristics of coping with employment, their characteristics of attributing employment setback and their opinions toward corresponding measures. Differences of these characteristics between different types of graduate were analyzed. Based on the study, countermeasures were put forward to help graduates conquer employment setbacks and find jobs.By positive investigation, this research got following conclusions:①In hunting jobs, graduates put great emphasis on three factors: high salary and good welfare, stability and guarantee of the job and the extent of exerting their abilities. And they can't accept the job which is not stable, has little space in future development and is not fit into their interest and majors. Compared with relative researches in recent years, graduates pay more attention to the stability and guarantee of the job.②The psychology and behavior characteristics of graduates' coping with employment mainly include: feel pessimistic, complain and evade; accept the fact and face up to it; envisage realities and find help. Most of the graduates incline to envisage realities and find help.③Graduates attribute the employment setbacks to five factors: policies and system of the school and government; their attitude and preparation in hunting jobs; overall qualification of themselves; social relations and employment discrimination; job demand and requirements. Graduates incline to attribute employment setbacks to themselves, and most of them give the factors of attitude and preparation and overall qualification high values.④In evaluating the measures of coping with employment setbacks, graduates give high value to the measures concerned themselves, following measures from school, other aspects and government.⑤There are differences in above characteristics between graduates of different genders, home background, education and social experience. In some factors, there are significant differences.According to graduates' evaluation of the measures of coping with employment setbacks, this thesis put forward further and specific measures from the aspects of school, government, graduate themselves and graduate's parents. The measures were:①Strengthen publicity and education about the concept toward graduate's employment. The government should induct graduates and the public to change the traditional cognition toward graduate's employment and build up correct employment concept. Meanwhile, education of carving out should be enhanced to cultivate graduate's consciousness of innovative undertaking.②Improve the quality of school education and enhance employment instruction. The university should adjust the major to the social demand and improve the education quality. Employment instruction should be enhanced and setback education should be started.③Pay more attention to graduates' psychological health in finding jobs. Graduates' parents should care about graduate's emotion and communicate with them often. Education toward graduates' psychological health in finding jobs should also be strengthened.④Improve self-qualification and regulate the moods. Graduates should participate in much social practice, set up proper self-cognition and regulate the moods actively.
