Human and human development is the starting point,landing site and the ultimate value of education and even the curriculum.As a living existence,the image of human is forged gradually through his whole life.Human image determines the curriculum theory and the curriculum reform.The reconstruction of postmodern curriculum theory, the criticism of traditional curriculum and the reflection on human crisis is,in essence, the concern for human development and the reconstruction of human image.Despite the fruitful research in postmodern curriculum,the study on human image is in need of systematic combing.This paper intends,through the combing and analysis of the views of postmodern curriculum scholars domestic and international,and through the historical changes in the goal of human image in the curriculum reform policy over the world,to investigate the ideal human image and,hopefully,to enrich the theory on the postmodern curriculum.The paper consists six parts.Part One:Introduction.This part includes the reason for selecting the topic, literature review,value of current research,definition of concepts,research methodology.Part Two:the spontaneous existence of human image in postmodern curriculum theory.The crisis of traditional curriculum in 1960s and 1970s rooted in the crisis of the missing of man's subjectivity.Postmodern curriculum theory reconstruction,focusing on the awakening of man's subjectivity,pursues subject-man's image,criticizes and reflects on the traditional curriculum theory.It sheds light on the ultimate concern of human development through detailed inquiry on the essence,the significance and value of curriculum.It's central idea is to promote subject consciousness by stressing the existence,creativity and self-realization of human being,taking human liberation as the ultimate objective.It pursues the significance and the value from the longitudinal dimension of the past,the present,and the future in the world life,as well as in the connection between humans,the human and the world,the human and the nature and so on,thus performing the experience construction and the self-image understanding unceasingly.Part Three:The practical foundation of human image in postmodern curriculum theory.This part,from the perspective of curriculum reform and practice,analyzes and discusses the evolution of human image in the training target policy.It includes: human image in the Japanese curriculum reforms;human image in the American curriculum practices;human image in the English national curriculum;human image in Chinese curriculum transforms.Part Four:the multi-dimensional demand of human image in the postmodern curriculum theory.Since the 1980s,the multiplex orientation of the postmodern curriculum has promoted rich development of human image,and helped us gain a comprehensive understanding of human image from a holistic and multi-dimensional angle.It includes:the relationship between humans,and the relationship between human and the world in constructive postmodernism;postmodernism and the construction of subjectivity in the discourse;the Caring theory of postmodern feminism,ecology view advocated by the ecological postmodernism;the stranger image which emphasizes the transcendence and the creativity.Part Five:Critical analysis of human image in the postmodern curriculum theory. This part reflects on the limitation and progress from the dimensions of historical development,content,significance and value,and summarizes the trend of development of human image in the international curriculum,seeking the ideal human image in the 21st century.Part Six:Ending words.
