People-oriented in our society and safety-focused means a lot to us, we should prevent unsafe maters by means of education. Safety education, in the aspect of hidden dangers, the awareness of safety, the abilities to keep safe, shows its increasing importance in school education. Unfortunately, due to some reasons, the safety education in schools is at random and the situation is not optimistic. As a result, most students can only get some fragmented knowledge about safety, which needs the attention and concerted efforts from the social partners of all sides to address this issue. With the increasing importance of safety education in schools, more and more researches with different angles and opinions are emerging these years. However, because of some complicated reasons, the safety education is just on the start.Based on the document of "public safety education guidelines for primary and secondary schools" issued by the Ministry of Education in 2007 and the paper "on the opinion of the implementation of public safety education guidelines for primary and secondary schools" by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, the paper pays its priorities on the following aspects: the cognition of safety education; the practice of safety education, including the teacher staff, teaching materials, curriculums and its resources; its efficiency and support. Through on-site investigation, its achievements and problems in safety education in Chongqing city can be witnessed in this paper, followed by the reasons and strategies to address these problems.Seven parts are included in this paper:Part One: IntroductionThis part mainly focuses on the introduction of its research content and its purpose, the origin of this research and the literature overview, its research ideas, the key points, difficulties and innovations of this research as well as its methods.Part Two: the Support of the ResearchThe research is supported from two parts, one is based on reality, from the needs of reality, policy navigation, social support and the feasibility of schools, which means it is urgent to improve our school safety education. And the other is based on theories such as the construction of a harmonious society, people-oriented idea, Maslow hierarchy of needs theory and the theory of life education.Part Three: the Definition of Some Concepts and Brief Introduction to the InvestigationThis part first defines the two important concepts: Safety Education and School Safety Education; and then, briefly introduce the preparation of investigation, the design of the questionnaire, the selection of the investigation places and the method to research.Part Four: Investigation of the Status QuoThe quality of teachers, teaching materials and the kind of curriculum are mentioned in this part.Part Five: Achievements and ProblemsThrough analysis, we can find some achievements in safety education, including safety education are being taught in a systematic way in schools; enormous teaching materials will guarantee the forward of safety education; primary and secondary schools have carried on a lot of practice about safety education. However, there also exist some problems, for example, school safety education is not pragmatic enough; school safety education teachers are highly mobile; teaching materials are not fixed and easy to change; the set and implementation of school safety education are difficult; students do not have enough interests.Part Six: ReasonsMajor reasons, including the inadequacy of awareness, confusion during the implementation; too many miscellaneous materials, lack of uniformity; instability of teachers; relatively simple teaching methods, the relatively backward teaching modes; urgent need of a sound safety education system., etc.Part Seven: StrategiesFirst, we should enhance our awareness and change our attitude toward the school safety education; second, we should improve the quality of teachers; third, teaching materials must be diversified for the good of future teaching; fourth, enrich the teaching sources; at last, better management contributes a lot to the improvement of our safety education in schools.
