The performance appraisal for university teacher is the main measure for assessing the achievement in teaching,promoting the development of teachers and improving the quality of high education.With the fact that our country's reform of educational system has gone deep into, every university has built its own evaluation system.However,for the influence of the thought such as utilitarianism,instrumentalism,pragmatism and so on,there emerges various prombles in the process of implementing the evaluation system,and has caused a series of adverse consequences.This article considers it is because the research about the performance appraisal mainly focus on its technical and usage aspects,while do not realize the importance of its orientation function,and don't think about the rationality of the orientation mechanism deeply. So the emphases of this article is to design the orientation mechanism of the performance appraisal for university teacher and exert its orientation function to the teachers.On the basic of other scholars' reaserch about the appraisal of teachers,according to inherit,develop and innovate,this article discusses the characteristic of the performance appraisal for university teacher and how to design the orientation mechanism;According to the result of questionnaire survey,this article analyzes the questions in the performance appraisal for university teacher,indicates its function mode,summarizes the root of the question;according to contrastive analyse,expatiates the differentiate between university and enterprise about its mission and performance appraisal;then on the basic of research about the teachers' characteristic, by the principle of the orientation mechanism,combines the experience of the performance appraisal about university teacher,the author designs the frame system of performance appraisal for university teacher from five dimensionalities,they are appraisal personnel,appraisal content, appraisal method,appraisal periods and appraisal result.finally demonstrates the guarantee factors in the process of carry it into execution.
