With new curriculum widely promoted in high schools, curriculum abilities of teachers have been increasingly arousing people' s concern.Combined with on-the-spot investigation,this thesis analyses on the present status as well as influencing factors of curriculum abilities of teachers in high schools of Xiangxi,an autonomous region in the north of Hunan province,preliminarily discussing countermeasures that will improve curriculum abilities of teachers.It was discovered that,through investigation:(一) Most of teachers have not completely accepted the concept of new curriculum.Since theyhave not fully recognized the necessity of reforming new curriculum,therefore they have mere confidence to whether new curriculum could be realized or not. (二) Teachers have lacked opportunities of curriculum decision-making as well as abilities of curriculum design and curriculum needed further enhanced;Part of teachers have been trying new teaching method,however,abilities of the whole teachers' curriculum organization and execution are not strong;The evaluation method from teachers to students is basically not changed,curriculum evaluation ability is relatively poor;Teachers have certain cooperative awareness, but their curriculum research abilities are relatively weak. (三) There have existed remarkable relation between teachers' curriculum abilities,teaching ages,attitudes to new curriculum and teachers' curriculum abilities,during each aspect of teachers' curriculum abilities is obviously related.There have also existed remarkable relation between teachers' daily teaching behavior and teachers' curriculum abilities.One important influencing factor that improving teachers' curriculum abilities is that teaching condition could not meet the needs.Among the reasons including:(一) Lacking of extensive propaganda to new curriculum reforming;(二) Curriculum management was too strongly centralized and integrated;(三) Evaluation system was lacking behind,as well as lacking of corresponded incentive mechanism;(四) Teachers' inertia and their lower curriculum qualities.(五) Teachers' heavy work load and high pressure.(六) Poor teaching condition and small availability of resources.(七) Students' basic and influence of parents' concept.Proposed to the preliminary countermeasures includes:(一) Transforming teachers' curriculum concept and enhancing teachers' curriculum consciousness;(二) Expanding economical investment,improving teaching condition as well as raising availability of resources;(三) Perfecting management system related to new curriculum,and building a good atmosphere;(四) Perfecting teachers' evaluation and incentive mechanism;(五) Strengthening teachers' training and practice instruction,and promoting ability development of teachers' curriculum;(六) Establishing a system for teaching and researching based on school,and promoting teachers' curriculum abilities.
