| The fundamental issue in improving elementary education in rural areas is to improve the quality of the teachers,especially the quality of the primary school teachers in those areas.In recent years,Hunan has experienced serious brain-drain of village primary school teachers and there are not enough new teachers coming to these areas.Besides,there exist some other problems such as:there is an aging tendency in the construction of the primary school teachers in rural areas;some teachers' teaching level lags behind and their consciousness and capability of innovation are not able to meet the requirements of the current development of the quality-oriented education.These problems seriously effect the sustainable,healthy and balanced development of Hunan elementary education.So,to establish a high-quality and well-constructed team of primary school teachers which can keep up with the changing situations of the development of elementary education in rural areas has become a top priority in the teachers' education in Hunan Province.At recent,the issue of primary school teachers training for rural areas has been taken seriously by the related departments and officials in Hunan.Four training bases for rural primary school teachers have been established by Hunan Provincial Education Department.Now it is decided that five-year elementary normal education be provided by the provincial government for the students who are willing to teach in the village or town-level primary schools in rural areas in Hunan Province.Recently,'free education for normal school students in Hunan' has become a hot topic which has got much attention from many people.This thesis is based on the case study of Chang de Normal School,one of the four training bases for rural primary school teachers.The author has referred to lots of educational theories and works on this issue.By statistical method and social surveys,the author has got a clear picture of the recent status of the primary school teachers in Hunan Province and in this article he has tries to make comprehensive study of the training models of the primary school teachers in Hunan Province.There are six parts in this project study:1.the status of primary school teachers in rural areas in Hunan Province;2.the subject qualification of rural primary school teachers training in Hunan;3.the aims of the rural primary school teachers training in Hunan;4.the curriculum system for rural primary school teachers training and the textbook development;5.the schooling system of rural primary school teachers training in Hunan;6.the enrolment and employment of five-year elementary education college students. |
