In this study, Literature investigation, questionnaire survey and experimental approach were used to investigate the characteristics and behavior of fatigue for swimmers. By using meditation training to relax swimmers both physically and mentally after exercise, observing recovery from physical and mental fatigue, and analyzing the data of experiment, we tried to confirm the feasibility of this relaxation method. During this study, we used 3rd-year swimming athletes in exercise training major in Wuhan Institute of Physical Education as subjects, and adopted group experimental design to study the difference between meditation exercise and traditional relaxation activity in terms of heart rate (P), Profile of Mood state (POMS) and Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ).After analyzing experimental data, we get the following conclusions: (1) Meditation training is helpful for athletes to eliminate physical fatigue, promote short-term and long-term recovery, and get the best physical and mental state. (2) Meditation training effectively improves the mood of athletes, and decreases negative factors such as tensity, fatigue, anger and anxiety as well as increases positive factors like vigor and self-esteem. (3) Meditation training effectively eliminates athlete mental fatigue , makes them more vigorous and having better feeling of accomplishment and decrease negative judgement. (4) Meditation training promotes swimmers recover from fatigue after training and has an effect on improving training performance.
