With the university reform process in the deepening, in order to accord the requirement of students, the physical education of university must adjust its education concept and principle, explore and research new teaching methods proper. We researched ladder pedagogy under this background.This paper mainly concentrates on the"theoretical basis","the teaching procedure","the meaning of teaching method", by investigation of documents, interviewing the experts, teaching experiment, mathematics statistics and logical analyze. At the same time, this paper have draw the conclusions that the ladder pedagogy is more beneficial than traditional teaching method in improving and promoting students'the theoretical level, technical skill of volleyball; observing ability; utilizing the skill in the race; arousing interesting of study; cultivating learn ability, directing ability and practice ability, by teaching experiment. The paper also summed up the advantages of the ladder pedagogy: rational teaching design, embodying the health teaching, rational teaching process, high efficiency learning process, concordant relationship between teacher and student and promoting teachers'teaching and research level. In the other hand the paper expounded the relation between the ladder pedagogy and the traditional teaching method. Therefore it can improve the efficiency of P.E class, through using the ladder pedagogy, and proposed to popularize the ladder pedagogy in public physical education class in university and college.
