Moral education of the undergraduates has acquired a great achievement and gained some experience since the Reform and Opening. However, in the face of constantly changing international situation, we must accept that the actual effect of moral education is always in a low level. Moral education should constantly use the knowledge of other subjects for reference which can help to build and consummate the system of moral education. In recent years, some scholars introduce economic methods into moral education research. And it has made some achievements. In the back ground of market-oriented economy, this paper uses economic theory and methods such as input-output, marginal utility and so on, which help to analyzes necessity and possibility of introducing economic method into moral education. In this paper we can rationally hold ideological and moral conditions of contemporary college students and actual effect status quo. It explores external and internal reasons that actual effect of moral education in universities is low. And it tries to find means to improve actual effect in universities.The paper is divided into four parts.Firstly, it discusses if economic methods could be introduced into moral education. This part mainly discusses necessity and possibility of introducing economic method into moral education. It all needs the economic methods such as improving the system of moral education evaluation, innovating and developing moral education, accommodating moral education to market economy circumstance. On the other hand, moral education has an economic side. Some scholars have made some achievements who apply the theory and methods of economics to analyzing the problems of moral education. So introducing economics into moral education is not only necessary but also possible.Secondly, it uses economic theory and methods to unscramble actual effect in universities. This part mostly analyzes the input-output of moral education in universities with economic theory and methods. The input of moral education in universities can be divided into four parts, such as curriculum settings, organization guarantee, policy tilt, fund input and so on. The output of moral education in universities can be considered in two dimensions: identification of moral education and ideological and moral conditions of college students. We can know actual effect status quo by comparing the input of moral education in universities and output of moral education in universities.Thirdly, it analyzes the reasons that actual effect of moral education in universities is low with economic theory and methods. First, the supply and demand of moral education in universities is not in balance. Second, there is marginal utility in moral education too. Third, the system of universities achievement evaluation is imperfect. Four, marketing method is too single. Five, cost of virtue is too high.Fourthly, it discusses how to improve actual effect in universities considered from an angle of economics. This part puts forward five ways of improving actual effect in universities in accordance with problems in moral education in universities and new characteristics and demand of moral education in new situation. First, increase effective supply, which makes supply of moral education meet the students' demand from contents, opportunity and means. Second, hold the basic rules in the process of moral education and solve marginal utility. Third, innovate and enrich styles of teaching in moral education which can inspire the passion of students. Four, build a qualitative and quantitative system of universities achievement evaluation. Five, build and perfect a just system. Try to create a good atmosphere in campus and society and provide system security and meaning guide for moral behavior.
