With promoted the new round of curriculum reform in Shanghai, the learning styles of senior high school students are paid the extensive attention by the whole society. In the past, Reception learning purely caused the education needs divorce from reality, while the second curriculum reform of Shanghai advocated the concept of student exploring and self-study, to improve the biological attainments and kinds of biological skills. Student's self-study is not only the foundation of life-long learning, but also the need of social development. There's a good chance to make they tick self-study for senior high school students when they participated in biological research in community. So senior high school students in the survey research demonstrated that it is suitable to study the self-learning. It is also the reality reflect of shanghai senior high school students' autonomy and in line with the request made by the new curriculum.The main research methords are literature search, survey, interview and case studies. Survey has been related to the students in 35 senior high schools(mainly are the experimental model schools) who are joining in the biology community, and to insight into their autonomy, and further to analysis the various factors that impact on students'autonomy, such as their grade, class types, sex, time ti participate in association, parents'educational level, and so on. Meanwhile, the questionnaire deliverd to 30 senior high schools'teachers in Shanghai investigated the existence status of the biological communities, operating mechanism, achievements, and characteristics, it also investigated teachers' guiding atrategy and theoretical base and self-quality when teachers are in the course of research. Questionnaire survey shows us teachers and students' advances of perfecting biology communinty and their views to develop students awareness of self-study. Another part of this survey is based on the daily observation of Shanghai Wusong middle high school 'biological and environmental communities'and its achievements, this text analyzes the reason for the communities' success and the students' autonomy.This analysis shows that biology communities exist in Shanghai experimental and model schools are devoloping well, and it is great helpful to students. But some difficulties are on the way to the communities development process that exists mainly in the limited funding, inadequate equipment, and lack of time. Although students in biology communitis are long for self-study, but results show that their autonomy is on a general level, it needs furtherlly improve. Factors that affect students'autonomy contain students'psychology of themselves, self-study capacity, and supports and inputs come from school,etc.Research outlook: in order to enhance students learning autonomy and the autonomy of research, we should carry out the idea of new curriculum, foster the quality education; make full use of different teaching resources in school; schools should devote greater efforts to senior high school biology communities, encourage students to establish a sense of self-study; set up diversification estimate systems on studying, and improve the students ability to learn , to research.
