The Research About The Solon Ewenki's Inter-ethnic Marital Satiafaction

Solon Ewenki is an important component of the Ewenki people. They retain the relative independence on ethnical culture and ethnical living pattern as well. With the further opening up the social culture and the diversity of life in minority areas, Solon Ewenki are related by marriage with other ethnic groups more frequently. Therefore, the Solon Ewenki's inter-ethnic marital satisfaction not only reflects family relationship, but also effectively measures the interaction between local ethnic groups and inter-ethnic identity.The present empirical study is undertaken to explore and analyze the Solon Ewenki's inter-ethnic marital satisfaction so as to provide an effective theoretical basis for further researches. The study was performed by investigating 336 Solon Ewenki involving inter-ethnic marriages. In view of the demographic characteristics which affect the Solon Ewenki's inter-ethnic marital satisfaction, the study was aimed to analyze the relationship between the Solon Ewenki's inter-ethnic marital satisfaction and the inter-ethnic identity.In this study, the general questionnaire and the marital satisfaction scale of marital quality questionnaire were used to explore the satisfaction profile and its tendency. The three research hypotheses are: 1. If demographic characteristics are different, evaluation of marital satisfaction are different. 2. If ethnicities of spouses are different, the evaluation of marital satisfaction is also different. 3. If marital satisfaction is different, inter-ethnic identity is different as well.The findings reveal that: 1. Different genders do not have statistical significance with the overall evaluation of marital satisfaction; 2. Different age distributions and scores of the overall marital satisfaction are weakly correlated. On the whole, satisfaction distribution of different ages is irregular; 3. The correlation coefficients between Spouse's ethnicity and the evaluation of marital satisfaction implicates there is significant correlation between these two variables. 4. Household income and marital satisfaction are significantly related. 5. Education level and marital satisfaction are significantly related. 6. Occupational distribution and marital satisfaction are significantly different. 7. Marital satisfaction is also correlated with the communication before marriage, mutual trust between spouses, scope of interpersonal relationships after the marriage, co-adaptation and communication between husband and wife, religious belief, identity of both parents, acceptance of ethnic groups, the relevant contact with the spouse's ethnic groups after marriage. 8. Marital satisfaction does not have significant correlation with spouse personality compatibility, pre-marital residence and eating habits.Based on the study of the relationship between inter-ethnic marital satisfaction and the inter-ethnic identity,it was found that cultural differences in some inter-ethnic families become a factor which affects the marriage. The analysis of Solon Ewenki who hold the same marital satisfaction indicates that Han Chinese culture dominates in the family formed by Solon Ewenki and Han Chinese. In the family composed of Daur and Solon Ewenki, the ethnical culture keeps relative independence. In the family constituted by Mongolian and Solon Ewenki, the integration of ethnical culture is significant.Through the study, the present research proved that in Solon Ewenki's inter-ethnic families, the evaluation of marital satisfaction is different if demographic characteristics are different. It was also found that the evaluation of marital satisfaction is different if the ethnicities of spouses are different. Moreover, inter-ethnic identity is different if the evaluation of marital satisfaction is different.
