With the rapid development and extensive application of information technology, modern distance education becomes more and more popular. As a new teaching mode which is carrying on teaching and learning by modern media technology, the distinguishing feature of modern distance education is its openness, but the openness needs the guarantee of teaching quality which is crucial for modern distance education. Examination is an important aspect for modern distance education not only to measure whether students meet the requirements of study, but also to ensure the teaching quality. However, there are still some drawbacks in the current examination. For example, making the examination report of the examination results means the end of the examination work, not carrying out any analysis for the test or just a rough analysis.The research object aims at the result of the examination in modern distance education. After analyzing some quantitative data analysis and evaluation methods which are suitable for modern distance education examination, the research develops an evaluation criteria and points out that the distribution of students' scores should reflect the actual level of students, rather than blindly pursuing the normal distribution. The difficulty of the examination contents should be combined with the average quality in the community. Evaluation is not an end and the most important thing is feedback. After getting a variety of data and evaluation results which reflect the quality of the examination, feedback them to the administrators, teachers and students, so that enhance the level of the examination, improve teaching and strengthen the student learning support services. In addition, combine the analysis of test with the building of examination question bank so that the high-quality questions can be accumulated to build high-quality examination question bank.Finally, this study develops an analysis and evaluation system and used it to analyze and evaluate three courses which belongs to the College of Network Education in Central South University.
