Social transition in China in the economic globalization, diversification benefits, information networking, and the rapid development of knowledge-based economy under the international environment, the thinking and behavior of university students showed the characteristic of ideological and political education is facing more severe challenges. Ideological and political education in universities as a new topic of the times, we must approach in the ideological and political education, efforts to change the ideological and political education status of poor results, continuously improve the effectiveness of ideological and political education. College students in research methods of ideological and political education process, a comparative study on the implementation of the method are a new area. As the difference between Eastern and Western cultural traditions and different social systems, Chinese and American Ideological and Political Education in the performance of different methods in many ways, but with the economic globalization, information technology development, mutual learning between the two has emerged, the trend of mutual attraction. This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the preface, which mainly introduces the background and significance of the research. The second part is the theoretical basis. It firstly introduces the meanings, the type and the main functions. Secondly it introduces and analyzes the meaning and content of ideological and political education implementation methods in American colleges. The third part is the core, which compare and analyses their respective advantages and disadvantages of the college students' ideological and political education implementation method. The fourth part is the key, which mainly explores the innovation of our country's university students' ideological and political education methods in order to putting forward the ideas and measures for implementation of innovative methods. The fifth part is the conclusion.
