The headteacher plays an important role in the school management. The work of headteacher is the same as teaching, which is the "main industry" .It's a highly professional work. In educational practice,everyone , however, thinks that any teacher is competent for it. The professional development of the headteacher hasn't received suitable attention. This research about middle school headteacher is mainly divided into the following four parts. It aims at promoting headteacher's development.Part I, it tells reasons, research significance and methods for this topic.The headteacher in middle school must improve professional quality, as the development of new curriculum reform and classroom management theories, headteacher's lack of professional literacy. According to educational practice, we find the problems of existing literature by research and investigate headteacher's professional development by questionnaires and interviews.Part II, the research interprets the connotation of professional development about headteacher in middle school.Unlike the professional development of teacher, the professional development of headteacher shows its own characteristics. Because the headteacher has specificity, we argue that the professional development of headteacher means a maturing process in professional knowledge, professional competence, professional ethic and professional affection, which bases on the professional development of teacher.Part III, the research reveals the problems of headteacher'professional development and further analyzes the problems.According to the survey, there are some problems in ideas, practices and institution about professional development of headteacher in middle school. Ideas affect the value orientation of professional development; practice behavior has an effect on the speed of professional development; policy influences implementation to professional development.Part IV, the part offers some strategies of professional development about headteacher in middle school. The strategies of headteacher's professional development include three dimensions which are ideas, practice and policy achieving of headteacher. The article mainly develops professional feelings and ethics from ideology and policy dimensions. It cultivates headteacher's professional knowledge and competence from a practical dimension.In short, the promotion of professional development of headteacher in middle school requires not only the headteacher's own efforts, but also a variety of outside support. The cooperation of internal and external is necessary.
