The Research About The Character And The Future Direction Of The Independent College

Independent College is a new school system in the process of China's higher education , it's also a new thing that emerged in a special social context. After just a few years'time, the number of independent school has reached 322, and has become an important part of higher education.They expand the scope of higher education, they also improve the supply resources of higher education . However, most of Independent Colleges still lay the beginning of school size, due to some historical and practical reasons, some of The Independent College have lots of serious problems.For example, there are still a number of schools are not standardized and have low quality of teaching .At first this article attempts to study the background and the characteristics of Independent College.Then we describe the character and the future of Independent College carefully.We focused on these problems because many issues happened on Independent College are related to its character.Unclear character will easily lead to misunderstanding and differences awareness of Independent Colleges. Analyzing the character of Independent College will help us make scientific and rational predictions on this basis.This paper argues that the characters of Independent Colleges problems relates mainly to three aspects, The Independent College is a public or private school; the nature of the school is for-profit or not for-profit and the corporate property of Independent Colleges. This attribute is also pointed out the main issues of the Independent College.At the same time we added up and analyzed different mode of Independent Colleges,we thought that Independent Colleges should be transformed into joint-stock of private universities,at last we made the necessary explanation and analysis.Studies have shown that: different mode of Independent Colleges should have different direction of development.Private Independent Colleges should be transformed into joint-stock of the for-profit private universities, while the state-owned type of Independent Colleges should be transformed into a non-profit private universities. Finally in order to ensure the future direction of Independent Colleges we should clarify property rights, clear responsibility of the government ,establish a modern and efficient corporate governance structure and create independent brands so as to improve the school system, This paper seeks to provide new theoretical perspective to the transformation of independent colleges.On the one hand we hope that we should help our government to establish a more rational resource allocation of higher education, at the same time that the government could enhance the efficiency of private education, in order to give our private school a more equitable environment.
