A Study On Noddings Caring Education Theory And Its Enlightenment For College Moral Education In China

Caring Education Theory came into being in the middle of the 1980s in America, and began to receive widespread attention in the West and generated wide-ranging impact in the late of the 1980s. Nel Noddings who is an educator in America is the main representative of Caring Education Theory. She believes that caring and being cared is mankind's basic needs. Schools are considered as the center of attention. Therefore, she advocated that the primary purpose of school education should care for their students and train students to care for others. Noddings Caring Education Theory provides a new perspective for our moral education in college students. Through analyzing the lack of caring in our moral education of college students and performance of lacking care among college students, we can further explore the new ways of moral education of college students. It will make education play a greater role in the training of qualified personnel.This thesis consists of three parts. In the first part, I mainly talk about the background, theoretical basis and main content of Noddings Caring Education Theory. Noddings Caring Education Theory came from America after World War II. There were tremendous changes in American society. A variety of social problems came out one after the other. Noddings recognized the lack of caring in society, and then she criticized American traditional education. Therefore, Noddings proposed Caring Education Theory. On the basis of theory, I mainly analyses the impact on Noddings Caring Education Theory from existentialism, humanism and female caring ethics. Female caring ethics plays a more important role. Main points of Noddings Caring Education Theory involves definition of caring, object of caring, characteristics of caring, method of caring.In the second part, I discuss that the lack of Caring in our moral education of college students and performance of lacking care among college students. At first, I analyze our achievements in moral education of college students. Moral education in China has always attached importance. Current mainstream moral of college students is good. At the same time there are many problems in our moral education of college students. I point the lack of care in family, moral education in schools, social environment and the network. So there are a series of performance of lacking care among college students, including disregarding for life, interpersonal stress, lack of thanksgiving consciousness and decreasing of social responsibility.In the third part, I talk about the revelation of Noddings Caring Education Theory to the moral education of the universities in our country. At first, I point that keeping care is important for us to construct the best family. Given caring family education can not only enable students to become a good one who have been caring, but also care others. Secondly, we should pay attention to the role of caring education in school moral education. We can train teachers'active care, pay attention to the diverse needs of students, pay attention to emotions education and advocate the diversity in moral education model. Finally, we need to remodel a social atmosphere of caring for others. We should care for others from ourselves, regulate the media, set up typical case, regulate Internet information and create a good network culture. I introduce Noddings Caring Education Theory into our families, schools and society. Our college moral education will be better through the family, school and society working together in the three areas.
