Marxism is the essential guiding thought through which we found CCP and country, and common ideological basis on which the Party and all national people unitedly strive. The ideological and political theory curriculum undertakes a systemic Marxist theory education task on university students and it is the main channel for university students' ideological and political education. Giving full play to the function of ideological and political theory curriculum, arming the contemporary university students with Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the "Three Represents" importance thought are the concrete embodiment of the Party's Educational Policy, the essential characteristic of the socialist university and the basic guarantee of the Party and the State for long-term development. In response, the issued Suggestions of Further Strengthening and Improving the Ideological and Political Education for colleges and universities from the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Education gave a clear interpretation in 2005.Since 1949, The Party has attached great importance to ideological and political theory teaching. The ideological and political theory in universities has undergone several adjustments to produce very good results, at the same time, accumulated rich experience. Looking back the history development of ideological and political theory curriculum, in particular reviewing the strong impetus about the 3rd Plenary Session of 11th Party Central Committee to China's Marxist theory education and summing up the historical experience of the curriculum construction, which have practical significance to do well the ideological and political theory education in the new situation , to full play the guiding role of theory curriculum, to further improve the theoretical, practical and targeted of ideological and political theory curriculum teaching , as well as to push forward the teaching reform and healthy development of ideological and political theory curriculum.At present, with the deepening of Marxist theory study, guiding position of Marxism is consolidating. China's reform and opening up and socialist modernization drive have made great achievement. Higher education in the long term teaching accumulated rich experience. The positive and healthy mainstream and knowledge talent's desire of university students provided favorable conditions to strengthen and improve the ideological and political theory curriculum Higher. However, in the face of new changes and new circumstances, the ideological and political theory curriculum construction is still not perfect, the subject building foundation is weak and repetitive curriculum, varying quality of teaching materials, relatively simple ways of teaching, lack of specific and effectiveness of teaching, the number of teachers, lack of team, quality is not high, some universities recognize different degrees are not sufficiently, and the problem of administration, that is difficult to adapt to the new era, the new situation. Currently, on the ideological and political education research results although more, mostly on experience, the lack of innovation, lack the necessary theoretical depth and height, a lot of theoretical research and practical education and teaching is out of line, which has very little real significance to the actual work. At the same time, due to the impact of examination-oriented education, many research results in teaching practice has not been fully used and some of them have been away from the reality of social development and students'personal needs, lacked the specificity. Most research was limited to its specific content and specific methods, and the studies to the intrinsic link of various components or logical relationship are fewer. Research on teaching methods at a loss, or stress modern teaching methods, or emphasize the traditional teaching methods, not good to unite them together.Based on reviewing the curriculum and development of ideological and political theory, combined with the social background since 1949, analyzed in-depth specifically the ideological and political theory curriculum development status and summed up their experience, which have implications to teaching reform of the contemporary ideological and political theory. On reading the policy documents of ideological and political theory curriculum in various periods since the founding and a large number of experts and scholars in theoretical research papers, combining with the historical process of Chinese society development since the founding, the author mainly to quote, cite other methods, take theoretical elaboration and practice combination techniques, from the key significance of ideological and political theory for the start, and in the historical background of ideological and political theory curriculum, development, basic reason as well as the main features aspects made a more detailed exposition, and tightly pasted real, summed up the experience and inspiration of ideological and political theory curriculum and development, put forward specific ideas to improve the ideological and political theory curriculum in universities .This article is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, which concerns mainly the purpose and meaning of the research, present research, dissertation research methods, as well as the basic frameworks etc. The second part is the state of the ideological and political theory curriculum and the development, the main selection 1956, 1978 and 2005 nodes in the three years of time, the curriculum and development of ideological and political theory since the founding is divided into system established, twists and turns, reform exploration, prosperity and development of four historical stages, each stage described the historical background, curriculum and teaching status. The third part detailed the main reasons of the ideological and political theory curriculum and development from the domestic and international situation, the innovation and development of the ideological and political theory and social cognition degree three aspects. The fourth part is the summation of the ideological and political theory curriculum and development experience, it reflected four"Unshakable aspects"on which sticking to the Party's guiding, persisting in combining theory with practice, adhering to the reform and development and persisting in combining stability with Innovation. Part V is the experience and inspiration of the ideological and political theory curriculum and development, not only summing up the experience and enlightenment of the ideological and political theory curriculum and development since the founding, but also from the discipline construction, teaching staff, teaching materials, teaching pattern, examination methods etc, putting forward the comprehensive thinking about the perfecting and promoting the ideological and political theory curriculum.
