Primary School Physical Education is the foundation of sports education in young students. Student interests and knowledge of sports also start from Physical Education during their primary school years. Good physical education also lays the foundation of good fitness habits and developing interests in sports. It is important to do more in-depth studies on primary school Physical Education status quo due to the increase pressure that students face physically and emotionally from all aspects of their lives. The lack of qualified Physical Education personnel in the field also constitues to the importance of such studies. The primary school years are one of the most important stages of a student's life. This is the stage of enlightment, knowledge, ideas, and interests. Students at this stage learn, absorb and grow through what they learn. Student interests in learning sports, their motivation and attitude, quality teaching staff and the facilities, are all factors that reflect current Macau's Physical Education system. This paper strives to promote ideas in improving the quality of Physical Education and addressing its issues and concerns. Therefore, this paper hopes to obtain information from students, parents and physical education teachers, to explore the problems faced by Macau's Physical Education system in primary schools, especially from the perspective of our students to look at the factors that affect them the most. With adequate information, we will be able to propose appropriate recommendations, and provide a reference for relevant departments and agencies to enhance Macau's Physical Education system.Macau's Sports law does not clearly provide a standard curriculum for all primary school Physical Education teachers. Although in 1996, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of Macau tried to re-write the guidelines for elementary and junior high school Physical Education, the guidelines were only limited to standards for the use of space and equipment, and not yet in standardizing sports teaching curriculum and lesson plans. Therefore, without such unified standards, each school arranges its own teaching content, methods, and assessment of performance standards. In addition, with the use of different school venues, facilities, equipment supply, the quality of teachers, and other issues, they all result in a great disparity between the standards of Physical Education in schools. Macau is very densely populated, and the lack of sporting venues has become a common issue for schools, which contributed to the lack of development in sports and physical education. Because Physical Education has no specific requirement from the Department of Education, each school focuses on their own needs and priorities. In this paper, methods such as, random sampling, questionnaires, statistics, and research on different literature articles, were used to research on Macau's 25 primary schools, and 60 Physical Education classes.60 primary school students and 35 parents were survyed on the 25 schools to comment on the administrations and their Physical Education teachers, and the problems facing Macau's Physical Education system. The study found that the curriculum of Physical Education and Sports Program, the actual teaching in classrooms and at extra-curricula sports activities, are very different between each school. Primary school Physical Education primarily focuses on teaching techniques, but ignores the physical development and the interests of students.Studies suggest that primary school Physical Education in Macau has been greatly affected by different school environments, inadequate sporting facilities and equipment, and the unstandardized teaching guidelines in schools.
