The disciplinary nature and teaching goal of Chinese class is a controversial issues in the educational circles of Chinese teaching in middle school. After the promulgation of " new course standard for chinese", the importance of the unification of humanity and instrumentality not only aroused people's attetion,but also got rid of instrumentality which monopolised the educational circles of Chinese teaching in middle school for a long time. So far,there was no consensus on the humanity and humanistic spirit,and the concrete implementation of them was still in the preliminary process.We must confront many problems in the course of new curriculum reform.First chapter discussed about the controversy over "instrumentalism" and "universal chinese view". By combing through the history of the debate about the disciplinary nature and teaching goal of Chinese class,and the promulgation of " new course standard for chinese"in 2003 by Chinese ministry of education,thie paper discussed the problem of conception of the humanity and humanistic spirit.Second chapter not only discussed and analyzed the connotation and significance of the dim consciousness and cinereous truth,but also emphasiz the spirit of confrontation and critical dimensions of the dim consciousness. Taking the teaching cases about the works of Western Modernist and Luxun for instance,this paper analyzed deletion of the dim consciousness and the misunstanding of the humanistic spirit.Third chapter analyzed the reasons of the deletion of the dim consciousness from the angel of ideology and culture,educational idea and teaching reality.From the angel of ideology and culture, this problem related to the disadvantages of Chinese traditional culture, Apotheosis of people's subjectivity during the May Fourth Movement, ultraleftist thought during cultural revolution, self-differentiation of humanistic spirit after 1978. From the angel of educational idea and teaching reality, this problem related to the laggard educational idea and condition.For example:teacher-centeredness, absence of experiencing teaching, the deletion of teacher's sustainable development and delay of evaluation system.Fourth chapter pointed out the serious consequences of the deletion of the dim consciousness and the corresponding countermeasures or suggestions. Humanistic spirit which was lack of dim consciousness was mutilated.lt was unable to confront the complicated reality and reach the target of the moral education.Our Chinese teaching desiderate to the dim consciousness,which will make the students enable to face the unperfection of reality.
