Self-supporting is the core of self, it has close relation with self-esteem, dependency, career choices ,in recent years,it has become an important part of the researchers.In late 80s of the 20th century Huang Xiting began to study it from the psychological point and arguments about self-reliance, he initially thought that self- supporting is the form of will or a kind of self-control; later, he proposed that self-supporting is someone's getting free from the things he dependent in the past, and he can act independently, make decisions for himself, make their judgments and be responsible for his behavior and his promise. It is roughly divided into physical self-supporting and actional self-supporting, mental self-supporting, economic self-supporting and social self-supporting.Self-supporting is an important definition of personality,the deep and sistimatical study on it has important theoretical and practical significance. In this study, the meaning and structure of mental self-supporting has been studided, and make a conclusion of the domestic research system .On this basis, the mental self-supporting structures were constructed, and then on the building of the theoretical results of the questionnaire,establish a valid scale,and use the independence of the sub-16PF test to make sure the structure of mental self-supporting.The process of this study include these following steps, first conclud a model of mental self-supporting. On the basis of the theory, The model of menta lself-supporting of uversity students which was constured by theory study had been validated and modified three times by the open-ended questionnaire and interviews study,the exploring factor analysis of the preliminary questionnaire and the confirmatory factor analysis of the formal questionnaire.At last,the model was legitimate and fitting.And then make a survey on the correlation between mental self-supporting and career maturity.The results of this study are as follows:1.Mental self-supporting of university students was a multi-level and multi-demensional model.It includes independence and self-control through the exploring factor analysis of the preliminary questionnaire and the confirmatory factor analysis of the formal questionnaire, independence includes cognitive independence, learning adaptation and behavioral independence, self-control includes good relationship, and emotional management and responsibility.2. The college students'mental self-supporting questionnaire's reliability and validity are good enough. The total questionnaire's Cronbachαis0.907, and each subquestionnaires'Cronbachαare from0 .536 to 0.832; the total questionnaire's split- reliability is0 .826, each subquestionnaires'split- reliability are from .752 to .824.And the coefficient indexes of construction validity are:χ2=954.758,df=384,χ2/df=2.486,RMSEA=0.049,GFI=0.906,AGFI=0.886,TLI=0.871,NFI=0.825,CFI=0.886,IFI=0.887.3.The scores of boys in total scores on mental self-supporting is higher than girls, and further analysis find that both in the "responsibility" and " behavioral independence," there are significant differences. Girls in the "learning adaption," "responsibility," "emotional management", " behavioral independence," "independence," "sele-controll" and "mental self-supporting" scores higher than boys, and in the "cognitive independence" and "emotional management" lower than boys,.both in the "responsibility" and " behavioral independence " ,the difference between the two dimensions to achieve the level of significance.4.Mental self-supporting becomes higher as the grades,and between the sense of responsibility and behavior independence, there is significant difference.5.In the sense of responsibility ,liberal arts students have higher scores than the engineering students, p = 0.000. Between behavioral independence and self-control,there is diffference, but differences do not exist in other dimensions.6.The scores of students in different positions has significant difference between good relationship and behavioral independence. There is a significant difference between the only-child college students and others, p = 0.000. The scores of university students from different places have no signicicant difference.7.There is significant differences between the mental self-supporting and the career maturity.
