It is the teachers who can decide whether a school has the ability to teach the right person for our society. The responsibility of university teachers is to teach the students,and make them to be the right person for Chinese socialism construction. Teachers are the most essential and important factor in the university management. Teachers can decide the result of the competitions between the high schools. And the incentive mechanism of a university is the pivotal factor to construct an excellent teacher team.This paper analyses the incentive mechanism of university teacher in a systematical and overall way. First of all, it depicts some incentive theories, including the content mode incentive theories, such as Maslow's need level theory and so on; the process mode incentive theories, such as expectation theory fair theories establishing goal theory; the behavior correcting mode theories and so on. Also this paper introduces some important function of incentive mechanism in the management of university teachers, which is to motivate the enthusiasm and creativity of university teachers, also is to attract and keep the good teachers. Secondly, this paper analyses the characters of the university teachers, such as the needs of the teachers, the characteristic of the teachers working and the personality character of the university teachers. Last but not least, this paper analyses the present situation of China's incentive system of university teacher. It points out some existing problems, including lacking of a scientific and effective examination for the outstanding achievement of university teachers,and also lacking of reasonable salary and reward system and so on. At the same time, this paper analyzes the problem causes, including the management system is not perfect, "transactional" management system, the disadvantages of the concept of backward management, college teachers face great pressures and other factors affect the stability of teaching staff.Finally, this paper raises some constructive thoughts and rules in establishing a benefit incentive mechanism of Chinese university teachers. The basic principles of building a incentive system of university teachers should follow these rules:The principle of fairness, unity and personality inspire the principle of combining incentives, scientific principles, to highlight the principles of growth, the difference principle. This paper presents a comprehensive understanding of the needs of university teachers, including reforming the existing Title Appraisal System and Job Employment, further deepening and improving the teacher performance evaluation system, establishing a scientific and rational system of remuneration incentives perfect way to university teachers.
