More and more psychologists payed attentions to self-forgiveness which is a new hot issue of health psychology. As a new hot issue of health psychology, self-forgiveness gets attention of more and more psychologists, yet there is still lack of localized research and integration of individual and interpersonal characteristics. Therefore, based on western psychology and cultural psychology, this study integrated both characters, and completed the psychological structure of self-forgiveness. A college students’ self-forgiveness tendency questionnaire, which was more suitable for native culture was established to do this research. In addition, with the deepening of the research of interpersonal adaptability in recent years, the study of interpersonal adaptability is also increasing, however, there is still lack of the research of influence mechanic. Therefore, on the basis of research of self-forgiveness, This study discussed how self-forgiveness, self-esteem and perceived social support affect interpersonal adaptability. And this study established the influence model and mediation model of self-esteem and perceived social support.In the current study,1149undergraduates and graduates were randomly selected from three universities of Nanjing. Questionnaires, factor analysis, multiple stepwise regression analysis and structural equation modeling were used to explore psychological elements of self-forgiveness and influence of self-forgiveness tendency on interpersonal adaptability. And the main contents of this study included establishment of College students’ Self-Forgiveness Tendency Questionnaire, the characteristics researches of college students’ self-forgiveness tendency and interpersonal adaptability, exploration of influence of self-forgiveness tendency, self-esteem and perceived social support on interpersonal adaptability. The results were as follows:(1) College students’Self-Forgiveness Tendency Questionnaire includes four dimensions:negative focus on self, positive focus on self, negative focus on others, positive focus on others. The questionnaire has good reliability and validity.(2) College students’ self-forgiveness level was over the average level. There were significant grade differences in level of college students’self-forgiveness. Freshman has higher self-forgiveness than other grades. However, college students’ self-forgiveness had no significant difference in gender, only child, and hometown.(3) College students’ interpersonal adaptability had no significant difference in gender, only child, and family ground. However, there were significant grade and major difference. Third-year graduates had higher interpersonal adaptability than others, and Students of Arts had higher interpersonal adaptability than others.(4) Negative self had indirectly negative effects on interpersonal cognition and interaction through self-esteem and perceived social support. Positive self not only directly affected interpersonal cognitive, but also had indirect positive effects on interpersonal cognitive and interaction through self-esteem and perceived social support. Negative relationship has directly negative effects on interpersonal cognitive and positive relationship indirectly positive influence on interpersonal interaction through perceived social support.(5) Self-esteem and perceived social support both play intermediary role between positive self, positive relationship and interpersonal adaptability.In summary, college students’ self-forgiveness tendency not onlydirectly affected interpersonal adaptability, but also had indirect effects on interpersonal adaptability through self-esteem and perceived social support.
