In this paper,30students who belong to Donggan,Chinese Academy of International in Shaan xi Normal University, will be surveyed for the study.By giving lectures and classroom observations,questionnaires and conducting interviews,the author collect Chinese writing materials, and get an access to the first-hand characteristics of Chinese character’ learning.This paper will introduce the characteristics of Chinese character learning for Donggan from three aspects,the Situation of learning Chinese characters,the Error types of writing Chinese characters, the strategies of learning Chinese characters. We will also explore the reasons for the characteristics of Chinese character’learning from the Chinese character、migration theory、the students themselves.For Donggan’learning characteristics of Chinese characters, the author intends to explore suitable ideas of Learning and teaching Chinese characters from specific literacy curriculum and teaching methods.The author thinks that in the initial stage,during the lessons of Chinese Intensive Reading and writing, we should teach a large proportion of Chinese characters; during the lessons of speaking and listening, the proportion of teaching Chinese characters should properly be reduced, we should not require the recognition of Chinese characters’reading and writing simultaneously to achieve that level.In addition, the author proposes that we should open specialized classes of Chinese characters during the initial stage for Donggan students, teach the basics knowledge of the Chinese character’ system, and give guidance to students about methods and strategies of learning.Learning from the major primary literacy methods of domestic, combined with the actual situation of Donggan students, the author suggests that in the early stages of Intensive Reading,Speaking and listening lessons, students should learn new Chinese characters with the text.In writing lessons, we should mainly use "the word science literacy method"and "components literacy method"to learn new Chinese characters."The concentrated literacy method"and "group literacy method" should be used for reviews.Finally, considering the national character traits of Donggan, the author introduces several specific teaching methods in order to help improve Chinese character teaching effectiveness for Donggan.
