In order to help foreigners understand the relationship between plyphs and meaning, and find an effective way of learning Chinese Characters, this article studies the effect of applying the SBU(Sonogram as Basic Unit) theory to Chinese Characters teaching. This article is based on internship in Thailand and relative articles collected during study life. Using literature, empirical research, statistical analysis of such methods.First of all, this passage introduces the theory of the SBU briefly, explains the reason for applying the SBU to Chinese Characters teaching, the range of application, teaching mode, feasible application principles and precautions for use. Then, this article analyzes the teaching background of Wat Raikhing middle school, Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand, chooses Chinese character teaching course, reveals the teaching idea. By means of curriculum implementation and observation, using statistical analysis in combination, analyzes the effectiveness, reflect on the shortages of the study.Based on the research idea, this passage is devided into seven parts. Part One is introduction, stating the importance of the study from study cause, research method and research summary. Part Two states the important views about the feature of Chinese character in the SBU theory. Part Three analyzes the teaching background, including Chinese course, teaching material, teacher faculty and students. Part Four shows the instructional design. Part Five analyzes and evaluates the implementation effect of the instructional design. Part Six is the conclusions. The last part includes appendix, reference and acknowledgement.Reading from the effectiveness of the teaching aims, it is found out that students can acquaint with the new experiment Characters ideally.The innovation of the paper lies in that this paper analyzes the feasibility of applying the SBU theory to Chinese Characters teaching, applies the method to teaching practice, and does some statistical analysis about dictation, tries to study emphatically the efficacy of understanding the relationship between plyphs and meaning under the help of the SBU theory.
