Simultaneous interpreting(SI) is a kind of interpretation, which sets a high standard for the interpreter. During the SI, the interpreter is supposed to take a lot of pressure. The principle of Syntactic Linearity is the primary principle of SI. We can also say that it is the most significant principle of SI. The use of this principle can reduce the stress of the interpreter, and let the interpreter do a better job of interpretation. The principle of Syntactic Linearity of SI has been adopted in the imitation of the process of SI in the conference commemorating the 60 th Anniversary of the Initiation of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. I have deeply learned about the importance of the principle of Syntactic Linearity of SI. Amplification, anticipation, omission, segmentation and conversion have found successful applications in this SI imitation process under the guidance of the principle of Syntactic Linearity. It is also these methods that have helped me a lot to fulfill this SI imitation practice better. The thesis includes many examples in which these methods are well applied. Hopefully, through these analyses, some references can be provided to the learners majoring in interpreting.
