An Analysis Of The Application Of Supplementary Strategies In Chinese - English Communication Between Premier Zhu Rongji 's Press Conference

This thesis aims at consecutive interpreting at Premier Zhu Rongji’s press conference, focusing on the application of addition strategy. In the light of the differences between English and Chinese, such as the differences of words, the differences of sentences, the differences of discourses, etc, so in order to achieve consistency in the process of C-E consecutive interpreting, interpreters need to exploit all kinds of interpretation strategies. Addition strategy, as one of the most common interpretation strategies, is frequently applied in C-E consecutive interpretation. And addition strategy contributes a lot to make the interpretation more accurate. This thesis mainly analyzes the causes and the applications of addition strategy in the interpreting process of Premier Zhu’s press conference. Furthermore, this thesis generalizes the general rules of addition strategy’s application.
