Addition strategy is afrequently used translation strategy in the process of interpretation aiming at makingthe translation more complete, accurate and fluent. Based on the interpreting transcriptof press conferences, the thesis carries out a study on the addition strategy. The thesisbegins by defining the addition strategy and introducing its function in consecutiveinterpreting and making readers know about the contents and features of the additionstrategy. Based on the introduction to the features of the press conferences in contentand language and according to the features and the characters between sentence andculture background, the thesis analyses the reasons of addition in consecutiveinterpreting. The thesis picks out sentences from the onsite interpreting transcript ofpress conferences as examples and then classifies the types of addition strategy toanalyses the application of it. The thesis hopes that the study can help improveinterpretation quality through the analysis and classification of the addition strategy.
