AQ (Adversity Quotient) is the way we respond to adversities, namely, it refers to the ability of facing setbacks, getting rid of difficult positions and surmounting hardships. There are always ups and downs in the courses of growth. Only by confronting the difficulties and defeating them can we acquire a healthy growth. And the level of AQ can directly affect our attitude forwards difficulties. This research is trying to get the general understanding of the AQ level among middle school students. It is hoped to raise their AQ level by taking group psychology counseling method. In this study, a comprehensive application was made through documentary analysis, questionnaire survey and experiments. Firstly, I made a test for junior school students with the adoption of AQ Scale in line with standard psychometrics to reveal the status of their AQ level. Secondly, aimed at the group of students with low AQ level, I conducted a systematical group intervention model, exploring an effective way to improve their AQ level. Based on the research above, I came to the following conclusions:(1)Middle school students’ average AQ are in the middle upper level.(2)When it comes to the aggregate scores, the reasons and extension tolerance dimensions of middle school students’ AQ level, we saw little difference in gender but significant in control dimension.(3)The grade variable can cause obvious differences in aggregate scores, the reasons and tolerance dimensions, but not the same in control and extension dimension.(4)When it comes to the only child variable, we saw slight differences in aggregate scores and individual dimensions, but great differences occurs when the reasons reach to the edge.(5)There are significant differences in aggregate scores, control and tolerance dimensions. When we refer to interpersonal relationships.(6)When it comes to parents’ relationship, we saw extra ordinary differences in aggregate scores; extra differences in control dimensions and significant differences in tolerance dimensions.(7)There are obvious differences in control dimension when it comes to the ways of family education.(8)Group psychology counseling can improve the level of students with low AQ.
