This report is based on the former part of Chapter 18 of The Business of Tourism(8th Edition) applied to the Australian students majored in tourism. The tourism textbook is informative text, the aim of which is to convey lots of information or knowledge for readers. First, the material for this report focuses largely on the European tour operator industry, especially, it explores the roles of hotel and airline sectors in tourism distribution system. Second, some translating skills for the polysemy of noun is analyzed in this report on the basis of the genre features and contents of the excerpted part from Chapter 18, including linguistic context, lexical collocation, also parallel text. Besides, the translating skills of the splitting structure which is also called discontinuous modification also is found out. As for the splitting structure, the key for translating skills is to find out the connection and separation between sentence elements.
