The material for the translation is abstracted from The Business of Tourism, which is a tourism administration textbook. The extracted part is the second part of Chapter 9—the Tourist Destinations, talks about the kind of the tourist destinations. The tourism textbook is an ‘information type’ text; therefore, the translation should be faithful to the original and be fluent. The author analyzed the tourism textbook’s language features based on the translation of the second part of the Chapter 9 of The Business of Tourism. Moreover, the author analyzed and summarized the difficult points from two aspects: vocabulary and syntax. During the analyzing process, the author used the extension of the meaning of the words, phonetic translation of lexicon, translation inversion and other translation skills, and then summarized some translation strategies and methods which are suit to the tourism textbook. The author hopes that the report can provide some help for the translation of tourism textbook. |
