As the popularity of Chineseis deepeningaround the world, more and more international students come to China to study Chinese, so communication among foreigners and Chinese people also becomes more frequently. At the same time, the appellation of understanding and using social address terms becomes increasingly prominent. Social address terms is a subsystem of Chinese address terms. Compared with Chinese kinship terms, social address terms is more commonly used in daily communication, so this kind of address termsis important for foreignstudents. Language is changing, especially the address terms, which always produces new changesalong with the social development.Through the practice teaching at the International Education Academy ofNormal UniversityShenyang Normal Universityand daily contact with foreign students, I found that foreign students always make mistakes in the use of social address terms, which produced a lot of communication barriers as they communicate with people. So the teachingresearch of social address terms is necessary.The scope of this paper are Chinese international education with syllabic characters vocabulary hierarchies and scope of Beijing language database from HSK dynamic. This paper also combines the questionnaire, summarizes the types of mistake that foreign students usually make in the application of social address terms, analyzes the reasons and puts forward some practical suggestions for teaching.The main content of this paper is divided into the following four parts:The first part, definite the relevant concepts in this paper to clear the research scope, mainly including the definition and classification of the social address terms.In this paper, the main social address, appellation of social relations, popular names, kinship terms and identity expression.The second part, the investigation about this research. The respondents are senior Chinese learners of International Education Academy of in Shenyang normal university. This part mainly includes the design and implementation of the questionnaire, the statistics and analysis of the results. This part can truthfully reflect the problems as foreign students use social address terms.The third part, through the analysis of errors from questionnaires and HSK dynamic Composition Corpus,this paper divides the errors into two major categories: misuse and coinage, then summarizes the causes of these errors when senior foreign students use social address terms.The fourth part,based on the previous research,put forward some teaching methods about social address terms for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, mainly including divergentteaching method,classified induction, comparative teaching method,situational teaching method and culture teaching method.
