Derived from Dhyana, Zen is a characteristic Chinese religion. It was first preached to China as the Indian Buddhism by Bodhidharma, further developed by the five succeeding generation of Zen maters, and established by the master of the sixth generation – Huineng. Zen is also a culture that involves the essence of Chinese characteristic philosophy and aesthete. In this article, a unique fusion of Zen into choreography is presented, in which a special dance piece is composed, which is an excellent combination of the aesthetic ideas in Zen and in traditional dance art. This work, dance of Zen, is an abstract expression and a modern exploration of traditional Chinese culture under the boosting development of various contemporary fashion dances in China.This article aims to capture the ideological content of Zen and its artistic features. The ideas, composition and presence of the Zen dance are discussed, as well as the significance and influence of Zen in dance. Notably, through the discussion on the revealed life purport of the Zen dance in the field of dance creation bloom out of focus on the heart, clear mind, access to the life wisdom of light, bring some "Zen" is our life, the soul, shackles in order to get rid of the body, let the dance art to free; also for the development of dance art new aesthetic realm, the inheritance and development of "Zen" culture, nowadays the Chinese dance art works of creative thinking and provide inspiration and reference.
