Geopolitics formed in the end of the19th century. Due to the influence of political,economic,science and technology, geopolitics presents different characteristics. After the energy became the foundation of world’s industrial economy, the traditional geopolitical theory argument turned to energy. Energy and politic are closely unified. Energy became one of the important resources of state power.This article mainly analyzed the United States energy geopolitical strategy towards Africa. The first chapter introduced the formation and core idea. The theory thought the resource decide strategy. Who controls the resource will controls the competitors and the world.The second chapter introduces the geographical distribution and migration of world energy center. The world energy center experienced three migration,included the gulg of Mexico, the Middle East and north Africa era. With the petroleum energy and transport arteries, Africa became one of the oil center. The third chapter introduced the background and basic content of America’s energy strategy. Based on the improvement of situation in Africa, the United States security situation and the game between great powers, the United States strengthened the scramble for Africa’s energy. The fourth chapter is about geopolitical analysis on America’s energy strategy. America aimed to curb the potential competitors and build the global energy strategy by means of controling the energy center and the back of military power so as to maintain its global dominance. But America is also faced with serious geopolitical barriers. After Obama took office, he actively promoted new nergy deal so that reduced foreign energy dependence greatly.At the end, it points out that if one country wants to achieve real energy security, technology innovation and the development of new energy are the key.
