With the rapid development of integrated circuit technology, system-on-chip (SoC) as a high integration and low-cost design has become the focus of IC industry. The most commonly used method of SoC design is that system bus will be determined firstly, then the processor, memory cell, peripherals interface as well as some specific function module IP will be selected and connected to the bus to architect the required system. A serious of frontend and backend top-level simulations will be followed to verify the correctness of both the function and the design rules. Such design method greatly reduces the design time and IP can be unlimitedly reused. In this paper an AMBA bus based IP design of peripheral interface will be designed to illustrates the interaction between bus and peripheral interface. The paper will firstly introduce the ABMA bus in detail, which is the basic of the system architecture and the core of module design and verification; the subject chosen here is the IIS(Inter-IC Sound bus) module which is an APB audio interface module it can be integrated into system-on-chip and can be reused in the design. In the section of verification, the theory and methods of verification will be expatiated. The audio module functional verification will also be completed in this section. Results show that the design in this paper satisfies common design requirements. In backend implementation, design is synthesized with SMIC libraries and parameters such as design area, critical path are obtained. The result meets the timing requirements. As a soft-core, the design can be reused in SoC .
