In the past two decades, the economic globalization and new economy have provided good opportunities for entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship activities have been an important part of the today's world. Entrepreneurship has been a popular topic both in society and in universities. Worldwide famous companies like Google, Microsoft and Dell were all set up by students. Extant studies on entrepreneurial success that focus on the process of resource acquisition and value creation have led to a deeper understanding on the resource requirements of entrepreneurs, but have shed less light on the antecedents to the propensity for entrepreneurial.In the present study a covariance structure model is tested to identify the causes of entrepreneurial propensity among the student in universities of China. Specifically, we explore whether steady personal characters, personal background or perceptions of contextual founding conditions have an impact on the intention to found one's own business.From the study view of psychology, sociology, management and entrepreneur's innovation, the author put forward the model of student entrepreneurial propensity. Afterward, the author defined several great respects of the influence factor and designed the questionnaire. The survey of 408 students at Zhejiang University broadly confirms the model.(1) Common personality of enterprise and the students' personality traits showed direct effect on entrepreneurial attitude and indirect effect on propensity.(2) Some of the background factors have direct influence on entrepreneurial propensity and some of them have indirect influence. Family background, education level have negative influences on student entrepreneurial attitude. While experience of entrepreneurial education and entrepreneurial organization have positive influences on student entrepreneurial attitude. Male have stronger entrepreneurial attitude than women. Students major in engineering have stronger entrepreneurial attitude than other major students. Students with experience of business plan competition have stronger entrepreneurial propensity than those who don't have the experience.(3) The attitude towards entrepreneurship proved to contribute strong explanation for entrepreneurial propensity of students.(4) Furthermore, the entrepreneurial propensity is directly affected by the environment in the entrepreneurship-related context. The findings have important implications for policy makers inside and outside universities.
