Demonstrational Study On Industrial Clusters Development Of Urban Fringes

As urban economy is developed at full speed, the difference in urban and rural areas is widened gradually. The Communist Party of China proposes the well-off society of comprehensive construction, planning the harmonious development in urban and rural areas as a whole. Thus, the importance of the development of the urban-rural fringes comes out. The urban fringes are the transition zones between the central cities to the rural areas. While it plays the role of accepting that the urban function shifts to the rural areas, it also plays the facilitation of promoting the development of the rural areas. Industrial clusters have been proved to be an effective developing mode of regional economy by practice. It can effectively promote regional economy development and enhance the competitiveness of the industries and regions. Therefore, taking industrial clusters development path in urban fringes is the effective way of relieving the pressure of big city, promoting local economy, leading the development of rural areas and reducing the urban-rural difference.The thesis is about the research of industries developing in the urban fringes from the angle of cultivating and developing the industrial clusters. According to the theories of the urban-rural fringes and the industrial clusters, combined with the special geographical position of the urban-rural fringes and general development, this thesis analyzes the factors that influence the development of the industrial structure, as well as the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of industrial clusters in the urban fringes. It describes the advantage industries available for the way of industrial clusters, explores the suitable industrial clusters development mode, and exemplifies the industrial clusters cases proved to be successful in other places.Finally, this thesis takes the cultivation and development of the industrial clusters in Xinzhou District of Wuhan as the example, combines with the concrete developing situation to analyze the development foundation and the present situation of the agriculture industry, the textile and clothing industry, the steel deep processing industry, the tourism industry and the logistics industry of port. This thesis can draw some conclusions from the present situation and the analysis. First, the agriculture industry andthe textile and clothing industry has developed into the industrial clusters and entered the developing phase. Second, the logistics industrial cluster of port begins to take shape, and the developing tendency is strong. Third, the clusters of the steel deep processing industry and the tourism industry have not reached the scale of clusters, but the potential is enormous. This part also summarizes the developing mode of the five major industrial clusters which has existed or will be constructed in Xinzhou District, predicts the direction of the integer industries development, discovers the deficiency, puts forward the suggestions and provides the references for the policy making by the government and relevant organizations.
