Shanghai is one of the most developed areas of exhibition industry in China. In recent years, exhibition quantity and scale in Shanghai are all increasing constantly, internationalization and specialization intensity are also being improved. Since the was issued on 1998, some exhibition organizing enterprises out of the border entered domestic exhibition market successively. They usually cooperate with the local exhibition organizing enterprises that have "exhibition hosting qualification", and bring their international brand exhibitions into Shanghai. Some of them even invest on exhibition venues construction. Actually the exhibition industry of Shanghai has stepped into an internationalized competition era.The foreign capitals entered the exhibition market on a large scale. On one hand, that have constitute a threat to local exhibition enterprises, on the other hand have brought advanced exhibition operation experience and promoted the overall level of exhibition industry of Shanghai. Now these enterprises, no matter Chinese-funded or foreign-funded, all have their own unique advantages. They fight for market share, and they also cooperate on exhibition projects. Furthermore, in recent years, the cooperation begins to move from project cooperation to capital cooperation. These enterprises have actually set up a kind of relationship called "Co-opetition".Because of their instinct for maximum profits, the foreign capitals always pursue the control power of the exhibition industry of our country to a certain extent. With the increasing degree of the opening of industry, the foreign side will put forth efforts to seize more market share and more profits. At the present stage, it is an objective situation that all kinds of exhibition enterprises coexist in the market and "Co-opetition" with each other. But how to follow "game rules" for these exhibition organizing enterprises? How to run their business smoothly in the "Co-opetition" era?This paper mainly concentrates on exhibition industry of Shanghai, regards exhibition organizing enterprises as the research object. It introduces the current industry background of exhibition organizing enterprises in Chapter Two, and sums up the different situation of exhibition enterprises. In Chapter Three, it makes an analysis of competition and cooperation relationship among these enterprises. In Chapter Four, it introduces the "Co-opetition"theory, points out that exhibition organizing enterprises in Shanghai have set up a "Co-opetition" relationship, and also makes some prediction and suggestion to the situation. Finally it comes to the conclusion: All kinds of exhibition organizing enterprises should learn from each other, strengthen their own advantages and achieve win-win situation in the "Co-opetition" era. Especially those local Chinese-funded enterprises should improve their professional organizing skills in order to occupy the favorable strategic position. The Shanghai government and the industry association of exhibition should strengthen macro management of the industry and make great efforts to build an excellent environment for "Co-opetition".
