Land is the most precious natural resource of human being. The people procured the huge fruit in development of land make use of course, and brought the problems about eco—environment Increasingly worsen and the sharpening of the human and the earth inconsistency. The problems became limiting factor of economy and social in karst> and lead greatly threatens the sustainability land use in the area. So we require seeking the policy on sustainable utilization of land. Regarding Liu panshui city as an example, the paper synthetically analyzed sustainable utilization of land from three aspects: The first, arable land protection and sustainability analyses in karst; the second, environment and study on sustainable utilization of land resource in karst; the third, evaluation of sustainable utilization of land resource in kast. Main research conclusion is as follows:(1) The chapter would analyze mostly quality , quantity and benefit of arable land. Simultaneity, benefit of arable land was analyzed to refers to linear. The conclusion is that benefit present the positive related with cropping index and mechanization of farming, and that present the anti - related with fertilizer.(2) The utilization of land impacts ecology environment on the aerosphere, soil, hydrology and living creature diversity etc. the eco-fragile area is district where natural ecosystem id out of balance over a long period of time. Liu panshui city is an epitome of area with soil and water erosion and serious phenomenon of stony desert. Acreage proportion of stony desert is 35%; Acreage proportion of soil and water erosion is 30%. This chapter adopt ecological footprint as a measure of ecological sustainability. The result indicates that the ecological footprint demand is 1.0167hm2.cap-1.The proportion is 5:1. While the ecological footprint supply is only 0. 7732hm2. cap-1. These results showed that the eco-logical footprint of Liu panshui was beyond the available ecological capacity, and its social and economic development was not sustainable.(3) This paper is to assess sustainability of land use on the basis of land related data during 19962004 in Liu panshui city. Method of correlation analysis and fuzzy mathematics were employed. Thirty indexes, land resource, ecology environment and social —economic aspects, were used in the integrated assessment. The weight and the membership function value of each index were calculated. The annual IQI (Integrated Quality Index)was determined and tested to assess land use sustainability of Liu panshui city. The results show the sustainability of land use of Liu panshui city took on up—trend during 1996 2004. Sustainable utilization of the city is in chrysalis during 19962000, seedtime during 20012003, basal utilization in 2004. According to the result of evaluation of sustainable use and the analysis of land potential. The author puts forward several proposals and measures of sustainable land use karst area.
