Floor type boring and milling machine is an important kind of machine tools, and thestructure of it has great potential for lightweight design. In this paper TH6918boring andmilling machine has been used as application objects, lightweight design of heavy dutyboring and milling machine has been achieved, through the performance analysis andoptimization of the machine tool structure, and the precision compensation on the basis ofstructure stiffness field analysis.First of all, using ANSYS software to TH6918boring and milling machine toestablish finite element model, and the structure performance in the statics analysis andmodal analysis.Under three typical conditions are analyzed in load, when the boringspindle of cutting force is smaller than when the milling and drilling the cutting force value,and when drilling spindle only by the axial force;Under the condition of self-respect, themaximal displacement of boring and milling machine happen, in the end of the boring baris0.621mm, maximum stress to25.9MPa;Under the condition of load for gravity andwork load, y=5m, x=2.2m as a work position analysis for representative point, postdisplacement deformation occurs on the top of the column on the left side of the largestcomprehensive,0.496mm, maximum stress is8.2MPa, the post is far less than HT300ultimate strength; Machine’s largest comprehensive displacement deformation occurredboring bar left side, the size is2.394mm, maximum stress is96.2MPa, far less thanHT300ultimate strength, and the maximum stress occurs only in local contact place, mostof the rest part stress level is low.Then, using the optimization module of hypermesh software pillar structure in boringand milling machine, the landing of large size optimization, and carries on the optimizedstructure statics and modal analysis. In the column under the condition of performance does not reduce, pillar overall volume decreased1104620cm3, reduced by13.8%, in thethree to the loading force under the action of gravity and XYZ, machine tool working andreliable, stable performance, the machine tool structure optimization scheme is feasible,reasonable structure design. To realize the lightweight design of large ground boring andmilling machine.
