Plant growth regulators are synthesized organic compounds which have the similar physiological activity as plant hormones. Plant growth regulators is characterized by less usage, increasing crops production and low cost. The application of plant growth regulators is considered as an important way to realize the transform from traditional agriculture to high technological agriculture. Forchlorofenuron and 5-nitroguaiacol sodium salt are two kinds of important plant growth regulators .Forchlorofenuron, a new plant growth regulator with high physiologic activity gained more concern. The article summarized the physiological effects, applications in agriculture fields and different synthesis ways of forchlorofenuron. Referring to previous documents, 2-chloropyridin-4-amine is synthesized from 2-chloropyridine by oxidation with H2O2, nitration and reduction of iron powder, which is subsequently reacted with phenylisocyanate to produce forchlorofenuron. Structure of forchlorofenuron was confirmed by 1H NMR. In this paper, the reaction condition for every step was discussed and the better technological conditions of forchlorofenuron were achieved.5-nitroguaiacol sodium salt, an animal/plant cell activator, has good physiologi- cal activity. It is one of main components of atonik. Atonik is applied widely and large sale amount. At present, 5-nitroguaiacol sodium salt was prepared from guaiacol by acetylated with acetic anhydride, nitration and hydrolysis. Due to high price and use restrictions of acetic anhydride, acetyl chloride and phosphorus oxychloride were used in the synthesis of 5- nitroguaiacol sodium salt. Especially, the latter methods was characterized by less usage, high yield, low cost. In nitrification process, the environmental pollution reduced to a minimum.
