Liberalization is the trend of international trade. Meanwhile protectionism in this field still exists. Originally it advocates protecting domestic market but now as the main form of new trade protectionism it promotes to protect the environment and resources as well as guarantee of national people's health. Compared with traditional tariff and non-tariff barriers, to build up green trade barrier tends to get more support at home and seems more reasonable because of its adaptability and uncertainty. Fashion of green consumption and environment protection campaign also help to enhance the suitability of its being acted as means of limiting importation which causes great difficulties to enterprises of exporting countries. Green trade barriers made out of political or economical reason to influence just certain country would affect international trade practices and performance of enterprises of the targeted country to a large extent. Such is the case to Chinese enterprises. What's more according to the author's opinion green trade barrier will remain for a long time and can be upgraded from time to time for its high technology content feature. With China's entry of WTO and completion of the transitional period, more and more China's enterprises will face fierce international competition straight. Consequently they may suffer green trade barriers quite possibly. And in fact recently our country has suffered green trade barriers frequently. To improve our foreign trade situation and achieve economic development, it is critical to enhance green competitive capacity of Chinese enterprises.On the basis of many references, general theory about green trade barrier is first given in this article.
