China ranked at the ninth in the world in terms of cow number which totaled to 6,800,000 compared with the world total of more than 0.2 billion in 2002. Some countries in European, Oceania and North America lead the the world in the development dairy industry. With recent years' development of dairy industry in the world, the scale of cow-raising farms is becoming larger and larger, increasing from 1000-cow farms to 3000-5000, and now even to 10,000. Problems existing in dairy industry in Suzhou district, mainly from the aspects of cow breeds, cow-farm management and milk processing, were analyzed based on the investigation of both history and present situation of dairy industry in Suzhou district. And systematic strategies of improving cow-rainsing industry in this area were discussed from the aspects of cow farm scale, feed applying, managing skill, milk processing and economic performances. Comprehensive analysis showed that the proper family-raising scale should be 8-10 cows, feeding small-farm scale be 80-100 cows, and large scale farm be 500-800 cows. There is a great prospect for the suburb dairy industry in Suzhou district of Jiuquan city.
