In the early 1990s, developed countries only focused on economy development but paid little attention to environment protection. When the pollution became badly severe to the whole society and had seriously negative impact on economic development, those countries had to carry out certain measures to resolve the problem, which leaded to high cost. This type of development is so-called "pollution first, and resolve afterwards" . In this way, it obstacles economy development even destroys the material foundation of economy development.Acting as core power to drive economy development world widely, MNE (multi-national enterprise) should take the responsibility of environment protection in economic management field. Although environment protection campaign is globally popular since 1970s, it was not paid much attention to in enterprises until 1990s. After 1950s, many big companies and institutes of supply chain management began to conduct environmentally friendly research, based on which there occurred many theories and opinions in economy, management and environment protection area. Thus, it provided solid thinking foundation for MNEs to put green supply chain management into practice and also provided enrich theories contents for this thesis.The concept of green supply chain management covers environment protection and supply chain management. Compared with traditional supply chain management, green supply chain management emphasizes on environment protection consciousness and requires achieving long-term stainable relationship within the whole supply chain. On basis of this concept, enterprises carry out to set up green supply chain management system which includes manufacturing system, consuming system and logistic system.MNE's green supply chain management is influenced by macro-environment like social culture, economic environment and internal factors as well. This thesis includes analysis on external environment factors and how MNEs take advantage of internal factors to help efficiently conduct green supply chain management.In order to further describe how MNEs carry out green supply chain management systematically, it covers MNEs'approach in three minor systems such as in manufacturing function, consuming function and logistics one. What's more, this is a case study of IKEA to further describe matured approach of MNEs' green supply chain management.Green supply chain management is a realm that needs to turn a research deeply. It's still new to study green supply chain management in the view of MNE. At the same time, there are some obstacles and difficulties in the process of practice, which deserves further study.
